Breaking: Governor Tambuwal attends PDP NEC meeting

Aminu Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto state, has arrived the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja. Punch reports that Tambuwal's arrival at the venue of the meeting sent attendees into a frenzy. Also, Samuel Ortom of Benue state and former governor of Kano state, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are also said to be in attendance. Others include former national chairman of the party, Chief Barnabas Gemade and‎ Nigerian ambassador to South Africa, Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto, Daily Trust reports. had reported that after several weeks of speculation, Governor Tambuwal on Wednesday, August 1, defected from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to his former party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Tambuwal told supporters at the rally that the defection came after due consultations with the people and response to calls by major stakeholders in the state. “This is not a decision that I have made lightly, but after extensive consultations with all the important stakeholders that we have come to the decision to pitch our political tent elsewhere. “However, the decision of our people and associates had become our total priority; it is the reason for the leadership we are yearning for.
